Rest for the Weary

Christmas! Family, friends, lights, parties, cookies…special blessings we anticipate each year as we remember and celebrate the birth of our Savior. But every year, I forget just how exhausting Christmas can be!

Weeks of parties, special worship services, staying up late on Christmas Eve in anticipation, up bright and early Christmas morning with excitement, spending the day with family and friends…all wonderful–and all followed up by an energy crash on Christmas night.

Are you exhausted from the busyness of Christmas?

Jesus invites you to rest. His arms are open, He’s whispering your name, and proclaiming,”Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)

rest-in-jesus

After weeks of rushing, planning, shopping, wrapping, decorating…it’s time to rest. In fact, Jesus wants to teach us that in those busy times, He still gives us rest for our souls. He supplies the strength we need and blesses us with peace in the storm, strength in the hardship, rest in the busyness of life.

There is rest for the weary!

In this busy season, I encourage you to rest. Quiet your mind, still your soul, and let the Lord sing over you. He knows how weary you are. Rest in Him today. Let Him revive your soul and renew your spirit.

Don’t rush through this week. As a new year is approaching, take some time to reflect over the past year, the joys and the pains, the highs and the lows, Jesus is in them all! His blessings surround us, His love comforts us, and His strength sustains us.

Let Him give you rest, filling you with His strength, quieting you with His love!

The Beauty of Renewal and Rest

Genuine, Complete Rest in Christ

We are surrounded by the beauty and power of God. Through His creation, we are offered glimpses of His glory, and through His Word and His presence we are offered the blessings of rest and renewal from the busy chaos that screams for our attention.

Every day, we are offered a deep, genuine, lasting rest, but sadly, in our hurried, busy lives, we too often miss it…in our rush to get everything done, we miss Him.

But when we pause, take time to see the beauty around us, we will see glimpses of glory. When we spend time in His presence, we will always find rest and renewal. We will always find God when we seek Him for He never leaves us. He is always with us and always loves us~always!

God wants to touch your life today. He is calling to you and desires to bless you with His presence, His love, His peace, and His goodness. I know you’re busy. I know your schedule is full and there isn’t enough time to get it all done. I know fear, doubt and worry creep in overshadowing all else.

But in God’s strength, filled with His love, refreshed in His grace, you will find renewal. Dear one, you will find rest. Somehow, miraculously, if you make Him the priority, give Him your devotion and time, He will not only encourage you, He will transform you. He will take your weaknesses and equip you to accomplish His plan for you.

Spend time with God today. There’s no expectation of perfection or set rules to follow. Just seek Him. He is faithful and He will meet with you. Spend time in His Word, be renewed, refreshed, and encouraged, and get a glimpse of His glory… You won’t regret a single moment!

Prayer at HIS feet~

Lord, You are glorious and Your glory surrounds me. Help me not rush through my day and miss the beauty and majesty of You. Help me not be so consumed with my plans that I miss out on Yours. Lord, would You teach me to put You first. Flood my life with joy and peace and teach me to praise You regardless of my circumstances. The darkness of this world is no match for Your brilliant light. Strengthen me and equip me to stand strong against the enemy and bless me with victory. Shine Your light in my life, flood me with joy and peace, teach me to praise You regardless of my circumstances.

Personal Reflection: What lies am I believing? What is God revealing to me in His Word. How do I overcome darkness?

I pray you are blessed beyond measure…and please don’t forget to like and share ❤

Michele

Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. (John 1:3-5, NIV).

Perfect Peace at the Feet of Jesus

The Perfect Peace of Jesus~

Life is rarely peaceful. Sure, we may have peaceful moments, but daily life can be chaotic, overwhelming, and very, very busy. And it’s easy to let the chaos affect our mood, our thoughts, and even our plans.

Jesus offers peace. Not the peace of the world which can change in an instant, but His lasting, complete, perfect peace.

Are you struggling to find peace? Take a moment to rest in the presence of God, soak in the wisdom of His Word. Pause your busyness, and let Jesus fill you with His peace. Let Him refresh, recharge, and rejuvenate you. You will be strengthened for whatever the day brings, and His peace will never leave you!

Daily Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank You for Your perfect peace. Forgive me for trying to handle life on my own, and in my own strength. Too often, I find myself empty, weary, and rushed. Remind me to pause and spend time at Your feet. Give me a deep hunger for Your Word and a thirst for Your presence. Be with me and make me keenly aware of You, and keep my thoughts and mind focused on You. I trust You with my life and I am in constant need of Your peace. In the name of Jesus, Amen!

Jesus Changes Everything

Jesus called His first disciples simply by saying, “Come, follow Me.”  He found them, loved and accepted them right where they were, and offered them a new life, a new beginning with Him.  Before they could even understand the magnitude of their decision, they knew they should accept…and follow Jesus.

Jesus offers the same exciting, life-changing adventure to us.  He simply and lovingly extends His hand and says, “Come, follow Me.”  We don’t have to meet any requirements or standards or make any changes.  The simple decision to follow Him is all we have to do and He will lovingly guide us, teach us, and direct us as He takes care of the rest!

Absolutely everything changed for the disciples when they chose to follow Jesus, and He offers the same transformational power to us.  In Jesus, we will spend eternity in heaven with Him where there will be no more evil, no pain, no tears.  But He has not left us alone here on earth until then.  He has sent the Holy Spirit and offers a life of abundant joy and peace, right now if we will just follow Him, trust Him, and obey Him.  He offers rest for the weary, freedom for the captives, strength for the weak.  He offers perfect peace, perfect love, and perfect joy.  We do not have to live burdened and consumed with fear, worry, regrets, or shame.  Jesus changes everything!

Yes, He makes us into completely, brand new creations.  And then, once He heals us, cleanses us, and brushes off the hurt, pain, and dirt of this world, He says, “Go, share my love with others.”  We are not meant to just enjoy His love for ourselves.  We are supposed to be completely transformed, renewed, and remade, and then go teach others how to find that same love and peace.
Wherever you are in your journey with Christ, whether you are brand new and just getting to know Him or have walked with Him for years, He is holding out His hand to offer love, support, and comfort.  I pray you will grab hold of Him right now, let Him hold you, and be overwhelmed with His love for you.  And don’t keep it to yourself.  Someone in your path today needs that same love and encouragement–and you are the one God is asking to show them, to help them, to lead them to Jesus!  So if you follow Jesus, bring someone along with you and show them the way!  Jesus makes all the difference!
Thank You for loving me Jesus!  Holy Spirit lead me, teach me, and guide me to a life that brings You glory.  Help me abide in Christ in every moment and teach me to share Your love with everyone I meet!  May Your radiance and glory be so evident in my life, it is unmistakable that I am Your follower.  In the name of Jesus, amen!

Taking Refuge

Life can be scary and painful.  We face horrible dangers and devastating losses every day, but as believers we never face them alone–

God is a shield for all who take refuge in Him!

A shield from the darts of the enemy and his attacks. A shield which will protect me and keep me safe from every attempt to harm me. A shield which guards my heart, my mind and my soul.

But, I have to choose to take refuge in Him! I can’t try and shield myself and I can’t try and do everything on my own. I must put on the whole armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18).  I must choose to take refuge and remain in Him!

I also must remember that this doesn’t mean that I will never face physical challenges or hardships.  I can’t blame God or doubt His protection when the evil of this world and the consequences of sin somehow pierce my life.

My soul finds rest in God alone and I will have eternal peace and everlasting joy one day.  But right now, in this life with trials and tribulation, my heart and my mind are guarded in Christ Jesus and I have the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, (Philippians 4:7).

And I can have this peace even in the pain and through the struggles of this life.  God is still my refuge and my shield.  The things of this world are blocked from my soul and the evil thoughts and desires do not have to take root- His shield covers me when I choose to take refuge in the LORD!

Heavenly Father, Your way is perfect and Your Word is flawless. You are my shield of protection and my refuge.  Thank You for arming me with strength and making my way perfect even when I can’t see or understand in the moment.  Strengthen me, Lord to take refuge in You.  You are my God, my Rock, my Provider, and my Protector–thank You!  I praise You for Who You are, for what You have done, and for all You do in my life.  In the precious name of Jesus, Amen!
As for God, His way is perfect; the Word of the LORD is flawless.  He is a shield for all who take refuge in Him.  For who is God besides the LORD?  And who is the Rock except our God?  It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect.  (Psalm 18:30-32)
