Move From Worry To a Place of Expectation

A Place of Expectation

Are you in a difficult situation? Are worry, fear and doubt preoccupying your mind and creating turmoil in your heart?

God is offering you peace in this moment.

Wait on God, expect Him to act, and trust Him for His answer. In His timing, In His way, He will come through for you. It may be in an unexpected way, but it will most assuredly be the best way! God’s answer will be the path that brings Him glory, and also works out for your best!

How do you move from fear to peace, worry to expectation?

  • Choose to believe and trust God, and decide right now that you accept His Word as truth. Intentionally choose to believe Him regardless of your attitude or emotions. When doubts come–and they always do–remember, He is faithful!
  • Make a list of at least 5 Bible verses that relate to your current situation. Write them out on note cards or put them in your phone. When doubt and fear begin to rise, read them, speak them, pray them over and over and over until the peace of God floods your mind and begins to transform your thoughts.
  • Replace the worry-filled question, “What’s going to happen?” with the peace-filled, “What’s God going to do?”

You can overcome worry! You can stop fretting and learn to enjoy your place of expectation. Praise God while you wait, and look forward to His amazing, glory-filled answer! Waiting is hard, but keep looking to Your Father in heaven for His plan and remember His promises–you will not only get through this time, you will be victorious!

Trust God and release your worry! Pray the following prayer and begin to enjoy your current place of expectation. Whatever you’re hoping for…God has something even better!

Father in heaven, I trust You. You know my heart, my thoughts, and my need, and I know You already have the perfect answer. I will praise You while I wait for Your direction. I will follow You even if I can’t see the next step. I will trust You in all things, at all times, no matter what. I am excited to see what You are going to do in me and through me and I will not fear. I pray in the name of Your Son, Jesus. Amen!

The Gift of Purpose

Have you ever felt useless or unimportant?  Ever felt like you don’t matter?

We all have–you are not alone.  This tactic of the enemy is a common one, but it’s a lie–a trick–an attempt to weaken us and make us ineffective.  We all have had at least a moment of being unsure of where we fit in or what our purpose is–but feeling worthless is an absolute and complete lie we don’t have to accept!

You have purpose–You were hand-crafted and meticulously designed with a deeper and greater love than we can even comprehend!  You are loved, cherished, and treasured–God rejoices and signs over you! (Zephaniah 3:17)

Ever believer has a unique and perfectly designed plan from our Creator and we are priceless and an irreplaceable part of His Kingdom.  From the largest, loudest mouthpiece to the smallest supporting ligament, each and every one of us matter and we are important–not just as a group, but me, you, and every single individual person–we matter!

Don’t let the enemy steal one second of your peace and joy–rest in the assuredness and strength of God and let Him show you how much you are loved.  Serve Him with gladness and let Him lead you and guide you to your perfectly designed place in His Kingdom–you are needed and necessary and incredibly loved!

Heavenly Father, please guide us to our purpose.  Flood our lives with Your love, Your perfect peace and Your complete joy as we serve You and Your people.  Show each one of us where we belong and teach us to use our gifts for Your glory!  Lord, use me as You build up Your body and help me attain the full measure of the fullness of Christ!  In His name, Amen!

To equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.  Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming.  Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.  From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.  (Ephesians 4:12-16)

31 Days of Letting Go

31 Days of Letting Go: A Prayer Journey to Freedom

I am so excited to share my new book, 31 Days of Letting Go: A Prayer Journey to Freedom!

God has blessed me beyond words throughout this project which actually started many years ago with a dear friend and sister in Christ, Lori Bremner.  Leading up to a women’s retreat for our church, we met together and prepared a prayer for each of the 31 days leading up to the retreat.  Each day, we emailed and posted on facebook the prayer for that day. After the retreat, we were encouraged to continue the prayers, which we did, and Lori has posted them every day for the last few years.

Recently, we were both amazed and incredibly excited to realize God was simultaneously placing the idea of a prayer book on both our hearts!  We talked and prayed about making these available somehow, although neither of us knew where to start.  After some research online and lots of prayer, we have finished it and are now so excited, humbled, and blessed to share it!

As women, we are prone to so many insecurities, doubts, fears and worries that we know are not of God. Our society has bombarded us our entire lives with deceptive marketing and outright lies that we need to be better, prettier, smarter, and do more than is humanly possible…and even then we aren’t enough without the next best product.  This can lead to countless struggles, dependencies, and addictions, but we don’t have to let the enemy steal our joy and we don’t have to live under this bondage!

God has armed us with amazing strength and supernatural weapons and this book is about letting go of the lies and strongholds in our lives to grab hold of God’s truth that we are His beloved daughters and cherished and loved just as we are!  In Christ, we have the gift of eternal life, perfect peace, and an abundant life of victory and freedom!!

The book is 31 days of Scripture, prayer and reflection questions to lead you on a journey to complete freedom in Christ.  It has been a tremendous blessing to work on putting these prayers together and I hope and pray the book is a blessing to you too!  My hope and prayer is that every person who reads it will be completely transformed through the power of the Holy Spirit!  The words alone have no power, but the Holy Spirit will renew and transform us if we let Him!

Please leave me a comment if you are blessed by it and let me know how the Holy Spirit is working in your life!

In Christ,

Staying Afloat

We recently drove to the beach at the beginning of a tropical storm. Having recently moved to coastal Georgia from the Gulf of Mexico, we wanted to see the big waves rolling in before it became too dangerous to be on the beach. We weren’t the only crazy ones out there, but the beach was fairly empty. Just a few others, like us, watching the power of the waves and enjoying just a glimpse of God’s might and power. The wind was howling and swirling so we didn’t stay long, but we walked up and down the shoreline in awe of the power of nature, and the glory of its creator.

The past 2 years have been something of a whirlwind and at times it seemed the winds of life were howling around us and we couldn’t get a solid footing on stable ground. There were days where I knew I could stand on God, my solid rock, but I felt like I was on my tiptoes trying to stay balanced on the edge of a cliff. God never left me though and there are countless life-changing blessings that never could have happened apart from the trials.

During the darkest times, my dear friend, Cyndi, an amazing blessing herself, reminded me what a Great big God we serve with a beautiful illustration that God had given her. She had me imagine being on a raft in the ocean and just relax, knowing my raft was safe and would go wherever the current would flow. Many times we have jokingly talked about our rafts and how it is such a relief to know we don’t have to always steer or navigate. We can just sit back and trust God, who is in complete control anyway.

God is my rock in times of trouble- and He is my raft on the seas. He will lead and guide me on the perfect course. Sometimes He will direct me safely away from the turbulent seas, but sometimes I have to go through them. It is in these rough seas that I can learn the most about myself and my God. My job isn’t to control every detail or even understand. I am called to trust and let God lead. So, I float on my raft in complete safety, trusting in my God.

Some days are harder than others. Thankfully, God is always in control and never leaves His throne. Nothing, nothing, takes Him by surprise. I can rest peacefully even in the most turbulent storms because I can trust my God! He is faithful and will keep my raft afloat. I can lay back and bask in the sunshine on the clear days, and I can hold on and trust Him through the most violent waves as they crash all around me. I know my God will never leave me nor forsake me- all I have to do is trust! And then when those perfect times of calm waters, clear skies and gorgeous sunshine come, they are all the more sweeter and I can appreciate them all the more!

Thank You LORD for loving me enough to keep me afloat and for never letting me go. Thank You for carrying me through the storms of life and for blessing me with so much more than I could ever deserve. You are my rock and my fortress-my raft- carrying me through safely to my destination of eternity with You. Strengthen me to remain steadfast in the storms so that I can remain true in the calm. Thank You for Your reassuring Presence, Your perfect peace, and Your unending love.

Teaching, Leading, Guiding Towards God

Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness.  (James 3:1)

Teaching is a huge responsibility. It is a calling that is life changing not only for the teacher but also the student. This verse is a warning and reminder of this responsibility to those called to teach God’s Word. While I may not be called to teach in a public forum, I am called to teach my children and lead them toward their creator and author of our faith. There is an accountability and responsibility that cannot be minimized or ignored. There is a danger of teaching the wrong things or even the right things in the wrong way. I do not ever want to mislead my children or teach them wrong. My main goal and desire is for them to know the Lord intimitately and walk with Him faithfully every day of their lives.

I will fail and I will fail miserably in my own strength. I must begin every day on my knees and ask for wisdom, strength and compassion. I must let God lead me and guide me so that I can lead them in the right direction. Our homeschool belongs to God and we must be listening to Him. I must teach my children to hear Him and seek Him with all their hearts. I must make sure that every lesson lines up with Scripture and is true. This task is too important and I cannot take my responsibility lightly. I cannot glide through the days unintentional. I must be intentional about seeking God and pointing my children to Him!

Father, help me teach my children every day and point them towards You. May my words and actions never be a stumbling block for them. Bless our family with wisdom and strength to follow You, to hear You, and to obey You. Help us equip our children with the knowledge of You and Your Word that will prepare them for whatever their future holds. I know You have a plan for them. Thank You for allowing me to teach them about You. Please equip me to do so and bring You glory! In Jesus’ name, amen.

Light in the Darkness

My family explored a cave today. We bought our tickets and followed the tour guide deep into the earth to see beautiful formations of limestone and rock, stalactytes and stalagmytes, and feel the cool damp air as we walked through the channels of rock.  It was thrilling to watch my children admire the beauty and savor the adventure of this fun excursion. The path we walked on was dimly lit but we could easily see where we were heading and were aware of curves in the path or low-lying rocks we would have to duck under. Others had gone before us and strategically placed lights, discreetly hidden among the rocks, to light our way and keep us safe.

God does the exact same thing for us on the path of our life. He brings light into our dark world and that light shines brightly. The dark cannot resist or hide from it. Whenever and whereve the light shines, the way is brighter and the darkess cannot overtake it. God has gone before us and has placed His light in our path to illuminate and guide us. He has given us His Holy Word to give us clear direction. He tells us when to watch our step, where to run ahead and when to stop and wait on Him. He tells us exactly which path to take and which to avoid. We do not have to try and feel our way through the darkness. If we will open our eyes and haerts to Him and choose to obey, the path is well-lit and safe. Yes, there will be times that the path is rocky and difficult, maybe even scary. But we never have to be afraid. Our tourguide not only knows the way, He created every detail of our journey and is shining a light on our every step- we simply need to trust Him and follow.

Thank You Lord God for Your amazing light that completely overtakes the darkness. Thank You for guiding me through this life and never leaving me. I trust You in every step and choose to follow You even when it doesn’t make sense to me or I can’t see the path ahead. I know You love me and have all things in Your control. I choose to follow You and I can’t wait to see the beauty and the adventure You have planned for me. Help me to be steadfast in following You and may I always stand firmly on the rock of Your truth. In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
