Stop Helping the Enemy~Trust God for Victory!

Trusting God for Victory

Believer, our strength and power come from the Lord. Our hope and joy come from the Lord. No one–no power on earth or hell–can ever take that away!

But…we can give it away. Piece by piece, moment by moment, we can let the enemy bind, steal and destroy that which God is building in us. We can let busyness distract us from God’s call and purpose of our life.

Why would we choose to give away our hope? Our joy? Our strength?

We would never intentionally choose that!  Yet, we do it every day. Every time I allow fear to creep in and overshadow God’s promises of security; every time I let doubt overshadow God’s promises of wisdom; every time I allow busyness to drown out the voice of God–each and every time I listen to the world over the Word of God I give away a piece of my inheritance.

No MORE! The enemy cannot have even a shred of my hope, my joy, my strength, or my promises of God! Not even a shred! What the enemy has intended for my harm, God will use for my good.

The enemy will continue to fight me, but I will no longer help him defeat me through my own lack of faith, understanding, or blindness.

I will fight!

  • I will study God’s Word.
  • I will believe and trust in the promises of God.
  • I will stand strong in the strength of His might.
  • I will daily put on my armor.
  • I will not be naive to the schemes and lies which my enemy, the father of lies is using to try and destroy me. I will not believe his lies.
  • I will believe the Lord.
  • I will believe Scripture as the living, breathing, inerrant, holy Words of God, and I will continually and faithfully apply them to my life.

Beloved, we are in a battle whether we engage or not. We can have victory right here and right now when we trust God. We will have problems. We will have struggles. We will have pain.

BUT God…He will bring life-changing good from each and every moment of our lives if we let Him.

Join me today in saying, “No more!” We will not help the enemy through our unbelief or fear. We will not live distracted. We are not helpless victims being tossed around. We are warriors with divine weapons–let’s fight!

And it all begins with prayer:

Lord, Your Word is truth and it is my weapon against the lies of the enemy. Open my eyes to deeper understanding of Your Word, give me an unquenchable thirst for Your Word–to know it, love it, savor it and trust it! Thank You for the divine weapons You have given me. Now, would You strengthen me to daily pick them up, and use them with boldness, in Your power and in the strength of Your might. You have already overcome this world. I believe Your Word and I trust You. Help me live victoriously, bringing You honor and praise in Jesus’ name. Amen.

I pray you are abundantly blessed with the fullness of Christ.

Faith N’ Friends at Counting My Blessings

Paper Swords

My son loves to create and design new things, especially weapons.  Clay, Lego’s, paper, the medium doesn’t matter, he just loves to create.  When a package is delivered, it is just understood at our house that he gets the box.  We also know that there will quickly be cardboard swords, shields and all manner of newly designed weapons all over the house with battles to be fought, enemies to be defeated, and wars to be won—and there are no spectators, only soldiers!
As believers, we also have battles to fight and a very real and devious enemy whose intent is to completely destroy us.  He will lie, cheat and try to deceive us, but make no mistake—whether we choose to engage in battle or not, we are at war!
Thankfully, our King, Jesus, has ultimately already won the war, but in His great mercy, there are still some POWs to be saved, so the battle rages on.  He has not left us unprotected though.  He has given us divine weapons and full armor including the Sword of the Spirit with which to fight.  He even fights for us!  It is up to us though to learn to use our weapons and to “get dressed” in our armor every day.
Dear brother or sister, are you battle weary?  Exhausted?  Battered and scarred?  Perhaps it is time for us to all do a weapons check and make sure we are fighting with the divine weapons God has given us and that we are covered head to toe in the armor of God.
We must also make sure we truly know our Leader.  As believers, we all need to spend more time with the Lord daily and get our “orders” directly from Him.  Let Him heal our wounds and refresh us and fill us with fresh energy and hope.  He is our source of strength and He is our victory!
So what is our weapon?  The Sword of the Spirit—God’s word!  It is alive and active, sharper than any two-edged sword.  Jesus Himself used it when tempted by Satan.  As believers we must, for our loved ones, for the least and the lost, for ourselves, we must learn to love and to use God’s word!
So here’s the challenge—truly begin to read God’s word with fresh eyes and an open heart.  Ask God to give understanding and wisdom.  And begin to hide God’s word in our hearts—memorize it!  We can’t use it if we don’t know it!
The enemy knows God’s word better than we do!  It is time we raise our shields of faith against his fiery darts and stop swinging paper swords.  We must pick up the Sword of the Spirit and begin to fight as if souls depended on it—because they do!

Heavenly Father, thank You for loving me and for giving me the protection I need against a very real enemy.  Thank You for fighting for me and for Your gift of salvation.  Teach me to love Your word and give me a hunger for it.  Give me a deeper understanding and wisdom to apply it in my life.  Lord, more than anything, I want to know You more.  In Jesus’ name, amen!

Dusty Armor

God knew before time how hard today would be. He knew the struggles I would face and the emotions I would feel.   He knows the battles I face both now and those to come and He has given me everything I need to not only survive but to have complete victory, complete peace, and complete joy!  To fully experience this though, I must prepare and use the weapons and protection He offers me! If my armor is dusty, it’s no wonder I feel the darts so much!

I was reading Exodus 14 this morning and I am so grateful for a God who goes before me to lead me, but then will move behind me and separate my enemies from me for the night, just as He did for the Israelites against the Egyptians. He held back the Egyptians while He parted the sea for the Israelites to cross on dry land.  They crossed over in full light while the Egyptian army was held back in the dark! That’s our mighty God who is fighting for us.

My enemy is just as real and I am in a daily battle. Ephesians 6 tells me that my “struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” But just as God told Moses in Exodus 14 to “not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring today” God will deliver me from my enemies as well. In fact, He already has. To walk in daily victory thoughI need my armor and it is my responsibility to put it on every day.  I have a shield of faith, but I must put it up and use it. I must choose to listen to the truths God sings over me and not believe anything else! I must ignore the lies of the enemy.

Just as God told Moses to stand firm against the Egyptians, I can stand firm against my enemy and I do not have to be afraid, but I do need the protection and the weapons God has given me and I need to use them. It is up to me every day to put on the full armor of God.  If I fail to do this every day, then I am setting myself up for failure. Now the enemy can’t take my faith, but he can sure mess with my emotions and keep me from being effective. I can become so consumed with my own problems and struggles that I forget I am already victorious. Rather than live in the joy and peace that is mine, I can become consumed with fear, insecurity, and a host of other lies if not covered by the armor of God. I must listen to God and let His voice be louder than any other sound in my life.

Lord, help me to stand firm against the schemes of the enemy. Help me see that You go before me and behind me. You give me the weapons and protection I need when it is time to fight, but You also go between me and my enemy when I need time to prepare and go forward to a new place. Lord, help me listen only to Your truths and to ignore the lies. When I feel defeated or depressed, help me remember You have already overcome. Help me soak in Your Word and bask in Your goodness. You love me with an immeasurable love- help me not only feel Your love today, but even more than that, help me know to my innermost being, the depth of the love You have for me! Jesus in Your mighty, all-powerful name, AMEN!

The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still Exodus 14:14

Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,  and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.  In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.  Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
