Christmas! Family, friends, lights, parties, cookies…special blessings we anticipate each year as we remember and celebrate the birth of our Savior. But every year, I forget just how exhausting Christmas can be!
Weeks of parties, special worship services, staying up late on Christmas Eve in anticipation, up bright and early Christmas morning with excitement, spending the day with family and friends…all wonderful–and all followed up by an energy crash on Christmas night.
Are you exhausted from the busyness of Christmas?
Jesus invites you to rest. His arms are open, He’s whispering your name, and proclaiming,”Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)
After weeks of rushing, planning, shopping, wrapping, decorating…it’s time to rest. In fact, Jesus wants to teach us that in those busy times, He still gives us rest for our souls. He supplies the strength we need and blesses us with peace in the storm, strength in the hardship, rest in the busyness of life.
There is rest for the weary!
In this busy season, I encourage you to rest. Quiet your mind, still your soul, and let the Lord sing over you. He knows how weary you are. Rest in Him today. Let Him revive your soul and renew your spirit.
Don’t rush through this week. As a new year is approaching, take some time to reflect over the past year, the joys and the pains, the highs and the lows, Jesus is in them all! His blessings surround us, His love comforts us, and His strength sustains us.
Let Him give you rest, filling you with His strength, quieting you with His love!
Michele, Thank you for the reminder to rest. Have a blessed holiday season.
Thank you, you too!
Yes, this season of the year can certainly get out of control with busyness. Thanks for the reminder that He wants us to rest and slow down, enjoying the true meaning of this season.
God is so good to remind us all! I hope you and your family are enjoying a wonderful, restful week!
Thank you for your reminder to rest. My quiet times with the Lord help me to do that, but I think that also “resting” in the middle of the work day is refreshing too. Happy 2017!
It is such a struggle for me to not let my to-do list crowd out my time with God, but it is impossible to be productive and stay on track without His guidance and the strength that comes only from spending time with Him! Our Quiet times with Him are so important. Happy 2017 🙂
This is a great message for a very busy season!
Yes, indeed! I’m so grateful for God’s grace and His reminders!
