Seeking Stillness, Finding God in the Quiet

Seeking Stillness…Finding God in the Quiet

Being still is hard, especially in our fast-paced society with its demands of instant results and constant busyness. Sometimes when weariness sets in, you may get your body still, but, if you’re like me, it can be extra challenging to get your mind still! Even the gas station has commercials on the gas pump now, the aisles in the stores scream to buy a new product- we can’t get away from the noise and constant sounds.

Unless we intentionally retreat to a quiet place, there is no quiet for our minds.

Even Jesus had to get away from the crowds in order to find quiet. We must get away from the noise and find our quiet! Our quality of life and our relationship with God depend on it!

Time in His Word: Psalm 46

“Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.” (Psalm 46:10)

at His feet Daily Prayer

Lord, I know I need to be still in Your presence. When my mind, heart, and soul become weary, when my temper becomes short, and my patience is gone, I know I need You. Forgive me for putting the demands of my overcrowded schedule ahead of time with You. Reveal to me what’s important and what is not. Teach me to prioritize my time with what matters to You. Strengthen me to be still in Your presence, unrushed, unhurried, and savor Your healing, calming, comforting presence. Wash over me with Your peace and flood me with Your calming love. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
