Finding Favor in the Eyes of God
David, even though he sinned greatly, found favor in God’s eyes. God Himself called David a man after His own heart! Why? Because he would do everything, anything, that God asked Him to do. He wanted to honor and please God more than anything else.
After removing Saul, he made David their king. God testified concerning him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.’ (Acts 13:22)
Moses, left his homeland and all he knew to follow God to an unknown, foreign land because he loved him and trusted him. His faith and trust pleased the Lord and He blessed Moses. He knew him by name!
And the LORD said to Moses, “I will do the very thing you have asked, because I am pleased with you and I know you by name.” (Exodus 33:17)
God knows your name too! He loves you. He is calling you, asking you to follow Him, trust Him, and have faith in Him. He may not be asking you to serve as king, or lead a freedom march from captivity for thousands, but whatever He is asking you to do, whatever He wants, there are blessings beyond anything you can imagine in trusting Him, in obeying Him simply because it’s the right thing to do.
When you trust God and respect Him enough to simply obey, He is pleased. And His reward? The greatest blessing we could ever hope for…His presence! He offers a deep, personal relationship and calls you His own.
Never let loyalty and kindness leave you! Tie them around your neck as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart. Then you will find favor with both God and people, and you will earn a good reputation. Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. (Proverbs 3:3-6)
Choose to trust God today, in every moment, in every circumstance.
Whatever He is asking of you, He will supply the strength, and the courage. All you need to do is take the first step in faith and leave the rest to Him! Trust Him!
Lord, I desire to please You more than I want admiration or respect from the world. I need Your presence and Your power in my life. Grow my faith in You, deepen my trust, and show me the path You have for me. I want to obey You and bring You glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
