What an awesome vivid picture of life and miracles to me! A little over a month ago, this plant was brown without a single bloom. It marks the exact spot where our recent trial began when Connor first passed out onto this plant and our ordeal of hospitals, tests, and surgeries started and we first began to realize how sick he really was. Now, Connor is home. He is healing. He is well! Connor is a walking miracle of healing and life and a testimony of God's amazing power and love for … [Read more...] about Beautiful Picture of New Life-Connor’s Illness and Healing
Tonight is Garrett's last baseball game of the season. He has learned so much about baseball this year and has improved his skills. But, he has also learned so much about life and how to be a better person. His coaches have taught him how to throw straighter and farther, but they have also shown him the importance of prayer. They have circled before every game and prayed for each other as a team, and recently, they have prayed for Connor and our family. That is a blessing and a testimony that … [Read more...] about Baseball, Prayers, and Family
I have become very aware of time, the passing of time to be exact. Every second moves forward, never to return. How many minutes, hours, even whole days have I wasted with completely meaningless activities? How many times have I told the boys "in a little while" only to be so busy that "later" came and went and we never did the thing they wanted- I missed it. How many sweet moments have I completely missed? I am painfully aware that I have missed far too many and I desperately want that to … [Read more...] about Missing Moments
We took this picture last night after Garrett's big grandslam! It is so wonderful to all be home and just living normal life!! We are so proud of Connor and Garrett and are enjoying every moment of life. We are taking more time to play games, laugh together, and just enjoying each other's company. Garrett's baseball game last night was the first time we were all out together, laughing, and feeling "normal" again. We have so much to be thankful for and celebrate!! … [Read more...] about James and the boys
Garrett's second to last game of the season and he came up to bat with bases loaded. What a great hit, right over the 2nd baseman's head into the outfield. The centerfielder threw it in to the infield who threw it to the catcher just a second or two too late- Garrett slid and was safe for a grandslam!! The whole team went crazy and hugged him and James high-fived the coach- we were all so incredibly proud of him! He even got the game ball! Just that afternoon, Garrett had talked about how great … [Read more...] about Garrett’s Grandslam
In Acts 3, Peter heals the crippled man begging at the Beautiful Gate and the man not only walks, he jumps and goes with them into the temple courts praising God. I doubt the man would ever consider going back to beg at the gate ever again. Why would he? I picture him the next morning rejoicing, maybe going for a walk, and then setting about finding his new purpose with new strength and freedom, but certainly never begging again outside at the gate. He would want to do everything in his new … [Read more...] about Walking in freedom- no more begging at the gate!
What a gift today is! I am overcome with grace and feelings of love and mercy! Connor is home and getting stronger by the day and I am praying to see each day as a gift. Today begins a new chapter in our lives as a family. We are all going to be more intentional about connecting with one another in deep meaningful ways. No more just going through the motions or being so busy all day that we miss the day. We will slow down, laugh more, love deeper, and try not to miss a single detail of what God … [Read more...] about Today’s gift of today
