Freedom in Christ July 4th is a day of celebration in America as we remember Independence Day, when we became a free nation under God with liberty and justice for all. It is a day to recognize and remember those who have selflessly and heroically fought and even died protecting for our freedom. It is a day to celebrate freedom. Any freedom which a government can give, a government can also take away. Thankfully, though, true freedom, our freedom in Christ, is eternal. Every believer is … [Read more...] about Freedom in Christ

Finding Favor in the Eyes of God David, even though he sinned greatly, found favor in God's eyes. God Himself called David a man after His own heart! Why? Because he would do everything, anything, that God asked Him to do. He wanted to honor and please God more than anything else. After removing Saul, he made David their king. God testified concerning him: 'I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.' (Acts 13:22) Moses, left his … [Read more...] about Finding Favor in the Eyes of God
Trusting God is a choice, one we must make daily. He is faithful and can be trusted, but it is up to you and me to choose to trust Him. Give Him whatever is weighing you down, whatever is troubling you, whatever is causing you pain~give it to God today and watch Him create something beautiful out of it. And He will bless you with rest! "Then the Lord said to him, “Go back to the land of your fathers and to your family, and I will be with you.” (Gen. 31:3) Jacob had wronged his brother … [Read more...] about Trusting God When Life is Hard
Prayer. Every believer knows the word 'prayer'. We understand the importance of communication with our Father. But there can be a lot of mystery, doubt, even fear surrounding the act of prayer. We all have many of the same questions and struggles, and Jesus has already given us the answers (just like He always does!). So, let's look at what it means to pray. What is Prayer? Prayer is simply communication, talking with God. He doesn’t expect fancy words or polished speeches. He doesn’t want … [Read more...] about What is Prayer and Why Does it Matter?
God is Love... Love is more than what God does...Love is Who God is. If you are in Christ, you are a child of God, loved and cherished by your Father. His love is not dependent on your actions, your attitudes, or your beliefs. His love has nothing to do with your past or your circumstances. God loves you because He is love. There is nothing you can do to make Him love you more, and there is absolutely nothing that can separate you from His love. God is love. Children are known by their … [Read more...] about The Infinite Love of God
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. (Matthew 5:7) We all need mercy, each and every one of us. We are all sinners. Even Paul, the great missionary, confessed to being the worst! When we lose sight of our own need for mercy, we become less merciful to others. Our pride leads to judgmental attitudes and feelings of superiority, and pride always goes before a fall! Pride is a sin that gives birth to a host of other sins. Only when we remember how broken, unrighteous, and … [Read more...] about The Fulfillment of our Greatest Need–The Mercy of God
I was recently blessed to receive a free copy of The Homemaker's Quiet Time Journal to review, and I LOVE it! It is a wonderful resource written by Crystal Brothers of Serving Joyfully. The journal is well laid out, organized, and helpful. It begins with helpful insights about the importance of a quiet time with the Lord, … [Read more...] about Review for The Homemakers Quiet Time Journal
What a gift today is! Today was not guaranteed to happen. Yet, here I am with air to breathe, food to eat, and clean water to drink. I have clothes to wear, and, if I choose to put them on, I have a dozen or so different colors and styles of shoes that I can even match to what I'm wearing! I take all this (and so much more) for granted each and every day. Rarely do I wake up and just thank God for today. I do sometimes remember to thank Him for my family, but most often I am asking for … [Read more...] about The Gift of Today
Today is a day of rejoicing! It has been one year today since Connor's life-saving, life-changing surgery and he is doing amazing! We are praying and thinking about his future--and we rejoice in the goodness of God! We rejoice and celebrate life and are so thankful that God answered our prayers with "yes," but even more so, we rejoice and are thankful simply that God hears and answers our prayers! God is not good because He gives us what we want. God is good because...God is just good. … [Read more...] about The Beauty of Hope
I have seen a number of news stories and articles lately about how the Christian church is losing the younger generation. And I will admit, as a Christian mom to two teenagers, this is alarming! Young people, even those raised in church, are apparently leaving. Kids, active in their youth group, are growing up, graduating high school, and, as they enter into adulthood, many are leaving the church building behind. They have no desire to attend services or "fellowship" with other church … [Read more...] about How do We Ignite Faith in the Next Generation and Keep Them From Leaving the Church?
